Included are typical approach, implementation, and governance techniques that might occur when planning, customizing, and deploying an Office SharePoint Server 2007 installation.

Rather than offer an overview of the features available to Office SharePoint Server 2007 and how to execute them, the goal of this paper is to communicate the logical approach that might occur during development and deployment. Many features in this paper are not applicable or available when using Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.

I'm working on Virtual PC 2007 which has Windows 2003 server and MOSS installed on the image. This image is also my development environment so I've installed Office 2007 Pro Plus, and Visual Studio 2005 directly onto Windows Server 2003.

How to Host Microsoft InfoPath Forms in SharePoint 2007 Web Part Pages

By default, when a Microsoft InfoPath Form is displayed as a web page the form occupies the entire browser – the context of the SharePoint site that displayed the form is lost. A common problem is that once filling the form has been completed users close the browser rather than hitting the back button. The solution is to display the form in a web part on a web part page within the SharePoint Pages. Note: The solution described here requires that either Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise Edition or Microsoft Office InfoPath Forms Server is installed. Two approaches are described here:

1. Simple: Display the InfoPath toolbar with the “Save” button through with which the form can be saved.
2. Advanced: Provide a “Submit” button and use a data connection to save the form to a document library.

Both use the XmlFormView web part to display the InfoPath form rendered as HTML using Microsoft InfoPath Forms server. This web part is located in Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.dll, and this web part must first be installed in a site.

Implementing Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server 2007 and Windows® SharePoint® Services 3.0 Solutions

When you begin implementing a solution
based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 or Windows SharePoint
Services on a new server, you may seek comprehensive guidelines to manage the implementation.
Concerns may include the following:

·
How to manage team development for large MOSS
projects?

·
How to deploy content and code between development
and production environments?

·
How to prepare your develop efforts for deployment
in a remote hosted environment?

·
How to enable developers to participate in
several projects at the same time?

This document outlines a methodology for team
SharePoint development, customization, and content authoring to help accelerate
and mitigate production risks.

The document reviews implementation
scenarios, tools, and the development environment. It does not address specific
implementations (such as “how to write a Web Part” or “how to manage work items”);
however, the document describes the requirements to achieve a successful
implementation. In addition, it provides additional references for more
research.

This guide is not a substitute for training and experience. Microsoft strongly recommends three fundamental steps to help ensure a successful SharePoint implementation.

1. Project individuals have completed their respective training plans for IT Pro and Developer roles. Use the Microsoft My Learning site to review available resources and learning plans for MOSS 2007 and WSS v3.0. Resources are listed for both Developer and IT Pro roles. My Learning link: http://learning.microsoft.com/Manager/default.aspx

2. Project individuals have passed the appropriate Microsoft Technology Specialist exams to validate they have the core skills. ? Exam 70-541: Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 - Application Development Exam 70-542: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 - Application Development Exam 70-630: Configuring Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Exam 70-631: Configuring Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

3. The Project team includes an experienced consulting resource, to support project planning and ensure best practices are followed.
